Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Deepika Jaiman. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Deepika Jaiman's research focuses on unraveling the molecular mechanisms governing lipoprotein trafficking in Gram-negative pathogens. Currently working as a research student in Karina Persson's lab, Deepika specializes in protein biochemistry and structural biology. The aim of her research is to understand bacterial lipoprotein transport systems and explore targeting pathways that lead to novel antimicrobial strategies. Her doctoral studies involve protein expression, purification, and structural determination using X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM). Additionally, her work incorporates biophysical binding assays, including BLI, ITC, and QCM-D, to characterize protein-protein and protein-membrane interactions, as well as antibiotic binding modalities. Deepika pursued her Ph.D. after completing an M.Tech. at IIT Kanpur, where she developed a cryogel chromatographic platform for exosome purification from mammalian stem cell cultures. She earned her M.Sc. from the TERI School of Advanced Studies in New Delhi, India, where she worked on Helicobacter pylori restriction-modification systems, which sparked her interest in bacterial pathogenesis.
Requirements are standard for Master's programs across Social Sciences and Humanities at Umeå. English 6 proficiency is the general rule.
