Biography

Deepjyoti Deka is a Research Scientist and PhD Program Manager at the MIT Energy Initiative. His research interests lie at the intersection of machine learning and optimization, focusing on tractable sensing and secure operation of renewable-rich power grids. From 2018 to 2024, he served as a staff scientist at the Theoretical Division of Los Alamos National Laboratory, where he was the principal investigator and co-principal investigator on various Department of Energy internal projects, specifically in machine learning applications for power systems optimization and interdependent networks. He has received both Master's and PhD degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, TX, USA, in 2011 and 2015, respectively. He completed his undergraduate degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering at IIT Guwahati, India, where he was awarded the institute silver medal as an outgoing student in his department. Deka is a senior member of the IEEE community and has contributed as an editor for the IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid.
