Biography

Deepthi Gunasekaran, MD, is an Assistant Professor at Boston University's Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, specializing in Nephrology. She received her medical degree with honors from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in India and completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where she served as Chief Resident. Following this, she undertook a Nephrology Fellowship at Yale University. Gunasekaran's clinical work encompasses both outpatient and inpatient care with a particular focus on kidney disease and cardiorenal syndrome, utilizing point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) for volume assessment. She has played a pivotal role in establishing a POCUS curriculum within the nephrology fellowship program. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, she is involved in educational innovations, which include activities designed to enhance medical trainees' critical observation skills and clinical reasoning through art gallery visits. Currently, she serves as the Nephrology Elective Director for fourth-year medical students.
