Dr. Deidre Lynch

Biography

Deidre Shauna Lynch is a Harvard College Professor and the Ernest Bernbaum Professor at Harvard University, specializing in Eighteenth-century and Romantic-period British literature. Her research encompasses various aspects of literary culture, theory, the history of the novel, the Gothic tradition, Enlightenment thought, book history, and affect theory. She has contributed significantly to the field of English studies with her selected works, including 'Unfinished Book: Oxford Twenty-First Century Approaches Literature' (2021), 'Romantic Period, vol. D Norton Anthology English Literature' (2018), and 'Jane Austen, Mansfield Park: Annotated Edition' (2016). Lynch is particularly passionate about mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, with a strong commitment to supporting first-generation college students at Harvard. She maintains an active academic profile and is currently accepting graduate student advisees.
