Biography

Delia Maria Talos, MD, is a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in epilepsy and associated neuropsychiatric co-morbidities, with a particular emphasis on genetic, immunological, and neurodegenerative processes. She employs a range of research techniques, including quantitative protein gene expression, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy, and EEG recordings, along with the use of transgenic animals and mouse behavior studies. Her lab applies human brain samples and translational mouse models to study and treat genetic epilepsies such as Tuberous Sclerosis Complex and CDKL5 deficiency disorder, as well as common forms of epilepsy caused by status epilepticus and traumatic brain injury. She has previously held research fellowships focused on neurophysiology and neuroscience in institutions including the University of Muenster and Boston Children's Hospital.
