Biography

Delphine Demelas is a lecturer in Humanities Data Science at the University of Southampton. Her research interests include Data Science, medieval languages and literatures, artificial intelligence, and the digital representation, curation, and preservation of pre-modern manuscripts. She is currently accepting applications for PhD students. Delphine holds a doctoral degree from Aix-Marseille University, where her research focused on creating a LaTeX critical edition of the 15th-century French epic, 'La Chanson de Bertrand du Guesclin'. She has an extensive background in teaching medieval literature and digital humanities internationally. In Paraguay, she led an international project to digitize and preserve the 19th-century manuscript 'El Libro de Oro', a national treasure. Delphine is committed to advancing medieval French studies and the significance of digital humanities research and international engagement. In 2023, she was elected to the executive board of the Digital Medievalist community and serves as an Associate Editor and Diversity & Inclusion Officer for the Digital Medievalist journal.
