Dr. Delvac Oceandy

Biography

Delvac Oceandy is a Professor of Molecular Cardiovascular Sciences at the University of Manchester. He graduated from the School of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga in Indonesia in 1996. He initially worked as a Research Assistant at the Eijkman Institute under the supervision of Prof. Sangkot Marzuki before moving to the University of Queensland, Australia, where he completed his PhD in Molecular Genetics. His post-doctoral training was conducted at the Institute of Molecular Bioscience in Queensland, after which he joined the laboratory of Prof. Ludwig Neyses in Manchester in 2002. Oceandy has received several awards, including the Young Investigator Award from the European Society of Cardiology and the Biomedical Research Award from the Australian Society of Medical Research. He was appointed as a Senior Lecturer in 2015, promoted to Reader in 2019, and became a full Professor in 2023. His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of cardiac remodelling and heart regeneration, with interests in the Hippo signaling pathway, tumor suppressor molecules in cardiac hypertrophy, and local calcium signaling in the heart.
