Biography

Demetrios Braddock, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Pathology at Yale School of Medicine. He was born in Tennessee and educated at the University of Chicago, where he completed his PhD in 1994 and MD in 1996. He trained at the National Cancer Institute, NIH, in Anatomic Pathology and joined Yale in 2004. His clinical focus includes hematopathology, particularly the diagnosis and treatment of rare diseases such as Generalized Arterial Calcification of Infancy (GACI). Dr. Braddock’s work on the ENPP family of enzymes has elucidated their physiological roles in blood disorders and vascular calcification, resulting in engineered biologics for enzyme replacement therapies. His contributions to medical research are driven by a commitment to improving patient care through accurate clinical diagnoses and innovative therapeutic strategies. He has received the Yale Faculty Innovation Award in 2022 for his impactful research and clinical work.
