Denis Lalanne is the director of the Human-IST institute and a full professor at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Fribourg. He leads the 'human-building interaction' group within the Smart Living Lab and represents Switzerland in the IFIP TC13. After earning a PhD at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) focused on computer-aided creativity, Denis completed a post-doc at the IBM Almaden Research Center and spent a year teaching and researching at the University of Avignon. His research explores various aspects of human-computer interaction, particularly multimodal interaction and information visualization. Recently, his work has focused on understanding and improving occupant comfort in buildings and applying human-AI interaction to enhance teamwork or support accessibility and rehabilitation.
