Dr. Denise Duijster

Biography

Denise Duijster is an Associate Professor at the Academic Centre Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA), specializing in Oral Public Health. Her research primarily focuses on socioeconomic inequalities in oral disease and the quality and appropriateness of oral health care. She has developed strategies aimed at improving oral health in populations of low to high-income countries and has conducted studies on the risk factors for oral diseases in vulnerable populations using health cohort data. Her research projects include ORANGE FORCE and MetaHealth, which emphasize the importance of evaluating interventions to prevent dental caries. Additionally, she has been involved in supporting families with parenting strategies that improve oral health behavior through initiatives like Uitblinkers and SMILE, which integrates oral health in care for pregnant women. Beyond her research, Denise's teaching emphasizes dental public health and evidence-based dentistry. She is an editor for the Dutch Journal of Dentistry and has held various positions in associations related to pediatric dentistry. Her academic qualifications include a PhD in Dentistry from the University of Amsterdam and a Master's degree in Dental Public Health from University College London.
