Biography

Denise Hileeto is a Bulgarian-trained physician with extensive expertise in pathology. She received her Master of Science degree in Pathology from the University of Western Ontario. Following this, she completed a three-year residency in anatomic pathology at Yale University, along with a one-year research fellowship in pathology at McMaster University. Her research focuses on histopathologic evaluation and establishing morphologic tissue characteristics in both normal and pathological states. Specifically, she works with ocular adnexal tissue, identifying new diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for ocular surface disease and myopia. Dr. Hileeto is also interested in investigating the possibilities of ocular surface reconstruction and tissue substitutes due to limbal stem cell deficiency. Her work encompasses evaluating histological parameters and their correlation with microscopically identified tissue characteristics using current diagnostic imaging techniques. Additionally, she is engaged in developing new methodologies for digital analysis in diagnostic and prognostic histopathology by utilizing digitalized histology slides.
