Biography

Denise Lewin Loyd is a Professor of Business Administration at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she joined the faculty in 2013. She is also the Vernon Zimmerman Faculty Fellow. Her research primarily focuses on groups, teams, status, diversity, social identity, and ethics. Loyd holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and Architectural Engineering from the University of Miami, which she earned with honors in 1992. She completed her Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1994, followed by a Ph.D. in Management and Organizations from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in 2005. She has served as a board member for various journals including the Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and the Academy of Management Review. Her published work includes contributions to the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin and Group Dynamics: Theory, Research, and Practice.
