Biography

Dennis Hogan is the Robert E. Turner Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Population Studies at Brown University. He completed a PhD in sociology with a specialization in demography from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1976. Hogan has held faculty positions at the University of Chicago and Pennsylvania State University before joining Brown in 1995. As a leading researcher in demography and population studies, he directs the Population Studies and Training Center at Brown University and has served as the director of the Population Research Institute at Penn State. Hogan has accumulated over $7.3 million in research grants and has authored three books and published 74 refereed journal articles. His research interests encompass demography, the life course, and the impacts of disability on family and community dynamics. He has conducted several significant studies, particularly focusing on health and disability among children and adolescents in various cultural contexts, including Ethiopia and Palestine.
