Biography

Dennis Jones is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. His research focuses on understanding the impact of tumors on the functionality of blood vessels and the essential immune cells, particularly T cells, that infiltrate tumors. His studies demonstrate that tumors can cause compression and dysfunction of blood vessels, ultimately limiting T cell entry into tumors. The laboratory aims to develop approaches to improve vascular function in tumors to increase T cell entry, in combination with immunotherapy to enhance the killing ability of T cells. Currently, Dr. Jones is testing combination therapies in preclinical models, with the ultimate goal of improving outcomes for patients with metastatic breast cancer. His lab comprises a multidisciplinary team of trainees with expertise in cancer biology, immunology, and vascular biology, utilizing a range of techniques including in vitro and in vivo experiments, imaging, and molecular and cellular biology assays to understand the complex mechanisms underlying tumor-induced vascular dysfunction and immune suppression.
