Dr. Dennis Klimchuk

Biography

Dennis Klimchuk is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Western University, with a cross appointment in the Faculty of Law. His research primarily focuses on legal philosophy, particularly private law theory and the history of political philosophy, with a special interest in the early modern period. He explores foundational questions about the limits of rights in property law and the intersections between private and public law principles. Klimchuk is currently writing a book examining Thomas Hobbes's theories, particularly in relation to Hugo Grotius's account of property. He is also active in supervising topics related to the philosophy of law and the history of political philosophy, and can offer advisory support on theses in the philosophy of human sciences, including psychiatry.
