Dennis C. Wendt is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology at McGill University, where he also serves as the Director of the Cultural Indigenous Research Counselling Psychology (CIRC) lab. He is an Associate Member of the Division of Social Transcultural Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry at McGill University. Dr. Wendt has over 15 years of experience collaborating with Indigenous communities across Canada and the United States to explore, develop, and evaluate culturally relevant interventions for mental health, substance use, and community wellness. He has authored 50 peer-reviewed publications and has received several awards, including the Distinguished Early Career Contributions Qualitative Inquiry Award from the American Psychological Association. His current research is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. Dr. Wendt collaborates with researchers from several prestigious institutions and has a strong focus on Indigenous mental health and recovery. He completed his PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Michigan in 2015 and has also completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in the field of addictions. Originally from southeast Idaho, he now resides in Montreal with his family.
