Biography

Derrick Wing Kwan Ng is a Scientia Associate Professor in the School of Engineering at the University of New South Wales, with a focus on Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications. His academic journey began with a First Class Honors Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronic Engineering from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2006. He later obtained a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in 2008, followed by a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia in 2012. Prior to his current role, he served as a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Digital Communications at Friedrich-Alexander-University in Germany from 2012 to 2019, and held the position of ARC DECRA Research Fellow. Dr. Ng has received numerous awards for his research contributions, including the IEEE TCGCC Journal Paper Award and recognition as a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate Analytics. He is actively involved in editorial roles for IEEE journals and has significantly influenced the field of Internet of Things and communications engineering through his extensive publications and research outcomes.
