Dr. Desirée Holm

Biography

Desirée Blankenburg Holm is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Studies at Uppsala University. Her teaching focuses on International Business and Internationalization, specifically at undergraduate and graduate levels, including an Executive MBA program. Desirée's research interests encompass internationalization processes, digital business development, the computer game industry, and knowledge transfer within multinational companies. She has published in prestigious journals such as the Strategic Management Journal, International Business Studies, Journal of Business Research, Journal of World Business, and Journal of International Entrepreneurship. Desirée is also a regular reviewer for these journals. Her research includes the global game 2.0 project, which investigates the structural changes in the Swedish computer game industry due to digitalization, funded by Svenska Handelsbanken and Wallander's Hedelius research foundation. This project has gathered insights from hundreds of Swedish game companies regarding the dynamics of international business, marketing, and innovation. Desirée’s studies focus on how subsidiaries of multinational companies communicate new business opportunities with their headquarters, a critical factor for competitive advantage. Her work contributes to the literature on the internationalization of digitized companies, offering insights into the collaboration between gaming companies and external entities in product development.
