Dr. Detlef Von Daniels

Biography

Detlef von Daniels studied Philosophy, History of Art, and Public Law at universities in Frankfurt, Vienna, and Freiburg. He received his doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Göttingen. He has held postdoctoral fellowships at the Max Weber Centre for Advanced Studies in Erfurt and the Mahindra Humanities Center at Harvard. Detlef has coordinated interdisciplinary research groups in Berlin and has research interests that focus on the intersections of law and philosophy, particularly in the context of current theorizing on historical ideas. He is the author of "The Concept of Law: A Transnational Perspective" and has published various articles on transnational legal theory, Kantian political philosophy, and the impact of classical ideas on contemporary debates in political theory. In addition to his academic pursuits, he is an ardent Berliner and enjoys spending time with his children at the splendid playgrounds and participating in the cultural events and Tango scene in Berlin.
