Devansh Saxena is an Assistant Professor at the Information School at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His research focuses on sociotechnical practices and decision-making in high-stakes domains, as well as the social impacts of introducing artificial intelligence in these domains. Saxena combines computational design methods to deeply explore the decision-making space and to design systems that augment workers' practices. His work examines human-AI interaction and how it plays a role in decisions that are mediated by organizational constraints, as well as the nuances of professional practice and algorithmic decision-making. He is particularly interested in developing new methods and tools to support AI innovation at the earliest stages, including ideation, problem formulation, and project selection. As a mixed-methods researcher, his work is driven by Human-Centered Data Science and seeks to find the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction, Machine Learning, and Fairness, Accountability, and Transparency in Sociotechnical Systems.
