Biography

Devashis Mitra is a Professor and the Dean of the Faculty of Management at the University of New Brunswick. He joined the faculty in 1991 and has made significant contributions in the areas of Finance and Entrepreneurship. His teaching interests primarily lie in Corporate Finance, Entrepreneurial Finance, and International Financial Management. He has received several awards for his exemplary performance, including the UNB Merit Award in 2001 and the Faculty of Business Administration's Excellence in Research Award in 2012. In addition to his role as Dean, he served as Associate Dean for various programs and initiatives, including Research Strategic Initiatives and International Programs. Before entering academia, Dr. Mitra worked with Price Waterhouse and Indian Aluminum Company, a subsidiary of Alcan Aluminum. He holds a Fellow designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and has been a visiting scholar, teaching in countries such as India, Indonesia, Poland, and Singapore. Dr. Mitra's research interests encompass entrepreneurial finance, venture capital, crowdfunding, and corporate capital structure, among others. He has co-authored widely adopted textbooks and published extensively in reputable journals including Applied Economics and Financial Management.
