Biography

Devesh Rustagi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Warwick, UK. His research lies at the intersection of political economy, development economics, economic history, environmental economics, and behavioral economics. Rustagi studies the origins and stability of culture and institutions, the forces that interact within them, and their effects on development, environmental, and political outcomes. He builds insights to design and evaluate public policies, achieving this by combining quasi-experimental approaches with randomized field experiments and behavioral experiments. His current projects are based in Ethiopia, Germany, India, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. Rustagi's work has been published in prestigious journals such as Econometrica, the American Economic Review, the Journal of Development Economics, and Science.
