Biography

Devin Ferguson is an Upper Extremity Surgeon and Assistant Professor at Dalhousie University, specializing in reconstructive surgery of the upper limb. He grew up in Nova Scotia and completed his undergraduate degree at St. Francis Xavier University. Following that, he obtained his medical degree and completed his Orthopaedic Surgical Residency at Dalhousie University. Dr. Ferguson further subspecialized in reconstructive surgery through a fellowship at the Roth|McFarlane Hand and Upper Limb Centre in London, Ontario. He also earned a Master's in Surgical Science from Western University, with a thesis focusing on a biomechanical comparative study of surgical techniques for managing massive irreparable rotator cuff tears. Since returning to Dalhousie University as an Assistant Professor in 2023, Dr. Ferguson has built a practice centered on shoulder, elbow, and wrist surgery, addressing traumatic and degenerative conditions, particularly in reconstructive surgery. His research interests encompass projects on quality improvement, access to timely care, clinical studies, and infection control.
