Biography

Devon Check is a researcher specializing in health services implementation, focusing on the execution of quality care evidence-based guidelines in oncology. His research employs large secondary data analysis and qualitative mixed methods to explore variations and inequities in cancer care as well as the experiences of both patients and clinicians. Dr. Check is particularly interested in supportive cancer care and has developed a diverse portfolio of research projects aimed at pain and symptom management in cancer patients. His methodological expertise is rooted in implementation science, and he has served as an expert in behavioral intervention trials, utilizing hybrid effectiveness-implementation designs. Dr. Check co-leads the Implementation Science Core Working Group as part of the Coordinating Center for the NIH Pragmatic Trials Collaboratory and the NIH HEAL Collaboratory. He earned his PhD in Health Policy Management from the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Before joining the Department of Population Health Sciences at Duke University, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Delivery Science at Kaiser Permanente's Northern California Division of Research.
