Dévora Grynspan, Vice President of International Relations, works closely with the President of Northwestern University to advance the university's strategic goals in a global context, creating greater integration of international programs into the university's strategic plan. In her role, Dévora represents the president to international constituencies and provides leadership in shaping and implementing the university's international agenda, administering partnerships and programs that further Northwestern's mission. Prior to becoming Vice President of International Relations in 2016, Dévora led the Office of International Program Development (IPD), where she developed and administered study abroad programs for Northwestern undergraduate students. During this time, she designed programs in countries including China, Cuba, France, Germany, Israel, Mexico, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, South Africa, and Tanzania. Dévora co-founded Northwestern’s undergraduate Program in Global Health Studies in 2004 and served as Co-Director until 2016. Before joining Northwestern, Dévora taught at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, where she directed the Center for Latin American Studies and established the Center for European Union Studies. Dévora earned her bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from Northwestern and received her law degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Born in Israel and raised in Costa Rica, she speaks fluent Spanish and Hebrew.
