Dr. Deyu Li

Biography

Deyu Li is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Geography and Spatial Planning at Utrecht University. He obtained his PhD in Innovation Studies from the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development at Utrecht University in 2020. His research employs an interdisciplinary approach and mixed methods to understand the geography of complex social-technical transitions. Deyu's focus is on the co-evolutionary dynamics of actors and policies that facilitate digital green transitions in both developed and developing countries. His projects investigate the emergence and diffusion of digital green technologies, their impact on the labor market, and the role of policy mixes in triggering system transformations. Currently, Deyu is involved in Horizon Europe Research Innovation action projects, SkillResilience4EU and ST4TE, which aim to address inequalities in labor markets and provide frameworks for sustainable transitions. He has also participated in EU-funded Horizon 2020 projects that explore future dynamics in industries and occupations amidst automation and globalization. Deyu previously worked as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Cambridge, focusing on manufacturing innovation and the role of government investment in energy technology advancements.
