Professor Dr. Dhruv Sookhoo

Biography

Dhruv Sookhoo is a Senior Lecturer in Architecture and Urbanism at the Manchester School of Architecture, Manchester Metropolitan University. He is a chartered architect and town planner, recognized as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. His research focuses on the role of architects and planners in designing housing quality and alternative modes of production. He gained experience as Head of Design at Home Group, promoting design quality in national housing regeneration programs. Dhruv has also led collaborative research programs at the Metropolitan Workshop in London and Dublin. He holds several advanced degrees from Newcastle University, including a PhD on the social practices of architects in negotiating housing quality within development management. His professional activities include examining doctoral students, serving on various industry committees, and chairing the RIBA Housing Expert Advisory Group. Dhruv welcomes doctoral candidates interested in housing design quality and aims to enhance collaboration between architectural practices and planning consultancies.
