Biography

Diana Abudu-Birresborn is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nursing at Brock University and a Registered Nurse in both Canada and Ghana. She received her PhD from the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto, where she specialized in Health Systems Leadership Administration with a collaborative focus on Ageing, Palliative, and Supportive Care. With over 15 years of clinical nursing experience in various communities, her research interests are rooted in gerontological nursing education, workforce development, and addressing health disparities among minority older adults, particularly Black older adults. Her goal is to conduct research that informs practice and policy, advancing culturally competent health equity in Canada and enhancing the skills of nursing students and professionals to better serve minority older adults. Diana's strong background in mixed-methods and quantitative research has led to several publications in peer-reviewed international journals. She has also received competitive awards and grants, such as the Bertha Rosenstadt Doctoral Research Dissertation Grant, and has completed a fellowship with the Gerontological Society of America for early career researchers, funded by the National Institute of Health, USA.
