Biography

Diana Atanasova is a PhD student at Linköping University focusing on research related to bone mineral metabolism and experimental clinical studies. Her main area of concentration is bone alkaline phosphatase, which serves as a biomarker for skeletal mineralization and vascular calcification. Her work involves in-depth experimental studies examining the structure and function of bone alkaline phosphatase, as well as its role as a biomarker and treatment target for vascular calcification. This includes studying cellular models and investigating protein structure-function relationships through various protein analysis methods. Throughout her PhD studies, Atanasova has engaged in clinical research in collaboration with both national and international investigators, tackling issues related to bone mineral disorders, osteoporosis, vascular calcification, and chronic kidney disease. Additionally, she has been involved in analyzing bone turnover markers through biochemical immunoassays. Atanasova is also a member of the research school Forum Scientium and is conducting her research within the Division of Clinical Chemistry and Pharmacology.
