Dr. Diana Dinitto

Biography

Diana Dinitto is a Professor at the University of Texas at Austin's School of Social Work, where she holds the title of Cullen Trust Centennial Professor and is a University Distinguished Teaching Professor. With a strong focus on Alcohol Studies and Education, she has authored several notable publications, including 'Social Welfare: Politics Public Policy' and co-authored 'Chemical Dependency: Systems Approach' and 'Social Work: Issues Opportunities Challenging Profession.' She actively contributes to the field by serving on the Encyclopedia Update Committee for the National Association of Social Workers and is a member of the Commission on Educational Policy of the Council on Social Work Education. Dinitto holds a Ph.D. and M.S.W. from Florida State University. Her research interests encompass alcohol use, drug use, social welfare, and social policy. She has received numerous awards, including the Fellow designation from the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare in 2012 and has been recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Social Welfare Policy Practice Group. Additionally, she has earned the Texas Excellence Teaching Award from the University of Texas at Austin, reflecting her commitment to high-quality education in the field of social work.
