Dr. Diana Dinitto

Biography

Diana M. DiNitto is the Cullen Trust Centennial Professor of Alcohol Studies and Education and a Distinguished Teaching Professor at the Steve Hicks School of Social Work at The University of Texas at Austin. Her current teaching and research interests primarily focus on social welfare policy and issues related to alcohol and drug use. She has authored several key texts in the field, including 'Social Welfare: Politics and Public Policy' and 'Chemical Dependency: Systems Approach,' showcasing her expertise. DiNitto has previous experience working with substance abuse treatment programs and has held faculty positions at Florida State University and served as a visiting professor at various institutions, including the University of Hawaii and the University of Sydney. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare and has received numerous accolades, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Social Welfare Policy Practice Group and multiple teaching awards from the University of Texas. In 2022, she was honored with an honorary doctorate by Tallinn University for her contributions to the field.
