Biography

Diana Hargreaves received her Ph.D. in Immunobiology from Yale University, where she worked under Dr. Ruslan Medzhitov. Following her doctoral studies, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship with Dr. Gerald Crabtree at Stanford University. In 2015, she joined the Salk Institute as an Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular Cell Biology and currently holds the Richard Heyman and Anne Daigle Endowed Developmental Chair. Her research focuses on epigenetic regulation mediated by the BAF chromatin remodeling complex, examining how these large multi-subunit complexes influence cellular differentiation and the underlying mechanisms of diseases caused by mutations in BAF complex subunits. Her work spans topics such as inflammation, cancer, and pluripotency. Hargreaves has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the American Cancer Society Research Scholar Award, the Pew-Stewart Scholar Cancer Research Award, and the V Foundation Scholar Award. She is also a recipient of the HHMI-Gilliam mentorship grant, emphasizing her commitment to mentoring the next generation of scientists.
