Dr. Diana Marculescu

Biography

Diana Marculescu is a Professor and holds the Motorola Regents Chair in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. She joined UT Austin in December 2019, previously serving as the David Edward Schramm Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Founding Director of the College of Engineering Center for Faculty Success at Carnegie Mellon University. Marculescu has held various leadership roles, including Associate Department Head for Academic Affairs in Electrical and Computer Engineering. She received her Diploma in Engineering in Computer Science from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Romania in 1991, and her Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of Southern California in 1998. Her research interests focus on energy-reliability-aware computing, hardware-aware machine learning, and computing sustainability for natural science applications. She has received numerous accolades, including the National Science Foundation Faculty Career Award and has served as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Computers. Marculescu has also been recognized as a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery and IEEE, underscoring her contributions to the field and commitment to advancing engineering education.
