Biography

Diana Matovic is a postdoctoral researcher at Macquarie University, affiliated with the Lifespan Health and Wellbeing Research Centre. Her research interests focus on dementia prevention, mental health and wellbeing in older adults, and the influence of social cognition on communication. In her doctoral research, she investigated how moods affect social cognition and communication by providing reliable and clear information while detecting ambiguity in communication. As part of her postdoctoral work, she manages the Ageing Tool which screens for risk factors associated with dementia and poor wellbeing, such as depression and social isolation, in older adults within primary care settings. Her ongoing projects examine social participation, mental health, and wellbeing in older adults, particularly concerning mild cognitive impairment and early dementia. Additionally, she studies the impact of social relationships on cognition and the mechanisms that underlie positive mood in older adults.
