Biography

Diane Joseph-McCarthy is a Professor of Practice in Biomedical Engineering at Boston University. She has more than 20 years of leadership experience in drug discovery and development within the pharmaceutical biotechnology sector. Joseph-McCarthy was the Senior Vice President of Discovery & Early Development at EnBiotix, a Boston University spinout focused on bioengineering novel antibacterials. Prior to this role, she worked as the Associate Director of Infection at iMED AstraZeneca, where she led a team of scientists in Predictive Science. Joseph-McCarthy has published over 70 articles and patents, contributing significantly to the field of biomedical engineering and drug discovery. She has been an invited speaker at numerous conferences and is a member of the National Academy of Sciences Polio Antiviral Advisory Committee. She received her BA from Boston University and her PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Additionally, she served as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University and Harvard Medical School.
