Biography

Diane Lipscombe is the Thomas J. Watson, Sr. Professor of Science and the Reliance Dhirubhai Ambani Director at the Robert J. and Nancy D. Carney Institute for Brain Science at Brown University. She earned her PhD in Pharmacology from University College London in 1986. After completing her postdoctoral studies at Yale University School of Medicine and Stanford University Medical School, she joined the Department of Neuroscience at Brown University in 1992. Her research primarily focuses on voltage-gated calcium ion channels and their role in the nervous system, particularly in relation to chronic pain and psychiatric disorders. Lipscombe also oversees the NIH-funded Predoctoral Training Programs in Neuroscience and has been involved in various funded research projects related to calcium channels and their cellular mechanisms. She has received numerous awards for her teaching contributions and has served in various leadership roles within neuroscience communities.
