Biography

Didier Péclard is an associate professor at the Department of Political Science and International Relations and the Director of the Master's in African Studies at the Global Studies Institute of the University of Geneva. He obtained his doctorate from Sciences Po Paris in 2005 and has served as a teaching assistant and lecturer at the University of Basel. He directed the 'Statehood Conflict' program at swisspeace. Additionally, he was a visiting professor at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor from 2012 to 2013 and served as co-editor of the journal Politique africaine from 2013 to 2018. His research focuses on the dynamics of state formation in sub-Saharan Africa, addressing two main axes: the study of civil wars as a matrix for state formation and the role of the state in development policies.
