Dieter Claeys is an associate professor in the Department of Industrial Systems Engineering and Product Design at Ghent University. His research focuses on performance analysis and control of manufacturing systems, with particular attention paid to uncertainties that occur within these systems. He teaches courses on designing manufacturing and service systems in the MSc Industrial Engineering program, as well as courses on maintenance optimization and spare parts inventory control in the advanced master program on smart operations and maintenance in industry. He is actively involved with Flanders Make, a strategic research center that supports the Flemish manufacturing industry. Previously, he worked as a research assistant and a postdoctoral research assistant in the department of Telecommunications and Information Processing at Ghent University. In 2013, he was a visiting researcher at Eurandom at the Technical University of Eindhoven. He is also a board member of the Beta research school in operations management logistics, which fosters collaboration among Dutch and Flemish universities in the field.
