Biography

Dileepan Joseph is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta, specializing in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Manitoba, obtained in 1997, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford, completed in 2003. After completing a postdoctoral research at Invensys University Technology Centre in Oxford in 2004, Dr. Joseph joined the University of Alberta where he developed a research program focused on Imaging Science Technology (IS&T). He has taught computer programming to thousands of first-year engineering students. His research area emphasizes critical imaging activities across sectors of the economy, aiming to enable and simplify complex visual tasks and enhance the understanding of images through advanced electronic engineering and computer science methodologies. Dr. Joseph's expertise lies in multidisciplinary research within imaging science technology. He has also served as a Visiting Professor at the McGill Centre for Intelligent Machines during the 2012–2013 academic year.
