Dr. Dillon Browne

Biography

Dillon Browne is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Waterloo, specializing in clinical child psychology. His research program focuses on the implications of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and trauma on human development across various domains including cognition, academic achievement, and mental health. Browne's work adopts a family systems perspective, examining the ways in which familial relationships among parents, children, and siblings interact in real time. He investigates how stress and adversity can affect families across generations, providing empirical support for family systems theory. His clinical interests encompass trauma-informed interventions such as Child-Parent Psychotherapy and systemic family interventions. Browne has conducted numerous evaluations, including randomized controlled trials, within Canadian contexts such as child welfare and foster care.
