Biography

Dima Damen is a Professor of Computer Vision at the University of Bristol. He is currently an EPSRC Fellow (2020-2025) focusing on automatic understanding of object interactions and actions using wearable visual and depth sensors. His research addresses action completion, skill and expertise determination in video sequences, and dual-domain learning with multimodal fusion of vision, audio, and language inputs. Dima leads the EPIC-KITCHENS project, which is the largest dataset in egocentric vision, and orchestrates annual workshops alongside major conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, and ECCV. He served as program chair for ICCV 2021 and is an associate editor for IJCV and IEEE TPAMI Pattern Recognition. Additionally, Dima has collaborated with Nokia Research since 2016 and has received recognition as an Outstanding Reviewer for several conferences. He obtained his PhD from the University of Leeds in 2009 and has held various academic positions at the University of Bristol.
