Biography

Dimitrios Fraggedakis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Biological Engineering. He received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2021 and holds a Dipl. Eng. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Patras, obtained in 2015. His research focuses on theoretical computation to understand the fundamental transport and reaction processes occurring in electrochemical systems, particularly as they relate to energy storage and environmental applications. He investigates lithium-ion batteries, electrochemical CO2 capture, and water treatment, dealing with the structural and chemical disorder in electrochemical devices that often leads to reduced performance and shorter lifespan. His goal is to gain a deeper understanding of electrochemical transport processes and propose strategies to improve the performance and lifetime of these devices through a highly interdisciplinary approach integrating theories from engineering, physics, and materials science.
