Biography

Dimitrios Konstantakos is an Adjunct Professor at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering with significant expertise in deep excavation engineering and soil-structure interaction. As the CEO and founder of Deep Excavation LLC, he has led numerous international projects including those related to slope stability and pile foundations. His educational background includes a Master of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Massachusetts in Lowell. Konstantakos is the chair of the Earth Retaining Structures Committee for ASCE/G-I and has developed the DeepEX software, which is widely used by over 1200 engineers and contractors globally. He is dedicated to advancing the field of geotechnical engineering and raising awareness regarding the critical role that geotechnical engineers play in construction projects. His work on the DeepEX software launched in 2000 has created a substantial online resource for engineers to address deep excavation challenges. Konstantakos continues to advocate for issues pertinent to the geotechnical engineering community.
