Dr. Dimitris Theodossopoulos

Biography

Dimitris Theodossopoulos is a lecturer in Architectural Technology Conservation at the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture, where he serves as a senior tutor. Trained as a civil engineer at the University of Patras and specializing in conservation at Sapienza University in Rome and the University of Edinburgh, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his teaching and research. His focus areas encompass technical operations, design interfaces, and the conservation of historic buildings, aiming to enrich architectural values for future generations. He teaches architectural conservation technology and construction history at undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD levels, integrating theoretical knowledge with hands-on experiences in the field. His research interests span prehistoric structures, Gothic vaults, and modernist concrete shells, with a strong commitment to employing contemporary methods to solve conservation challenges. He utilizes structural analysis and architectural modelling to investigate the stability of historical constructions and engages in cross-disciplinary research to provide new insights into engineering and conservation theory. His work also includes supervision of PhD students on topics related to architectural conservation, underscoring his dedication to advancing knowledge and practice in the field.
