Biography

Dimitry Anastakis is the L.R. Wilson/R.J. Currie Chair in Canadian Business History at the University of Toronto, holding positions in the Department of History and the Rotman School of Management. He is also a member of the College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists of the Royal Society of Canada. His research primarily focuses on the intersection of business, state politics, and globalization, particularly in the post-1945 era in Canada. Anastakis has authored and edited nine books and collections, notably on the development of the Canadian auto industry. His current research examines the infamous Bricklin car venture in New Brunswick during the 1970s, exploring its implications in the broader context of North America's free trade dynamics and the emergence of neoliberalism. He co-edits the Canadian Historical Review and chairs the Canadian Business History Association, having played a significant role in launching the Fulbright Chair in Canadian Studies at Michigan State University.
