Dina 't Zandt is an Assistant Professor at Radboud University, focusing on Ecology. Her research interests encompass the diverse interactions between plants and soil microbiota, particularly how disturbances affect these relationships and contribute to plant community resilience. Her current research aims to understand the impact of climate change and extreme weather events on plant-soil microbiota interactions, the structure of these networks, and their influence on plant recovery from drought. She investigates fine-scale interactions that drive large-scale plant community dynamics and diversity. To address these research questions, Dina integrates fieldwork, mesocosm and greenhouse experiments, employing a diverse range of bioinformatics and statistical approaches. Her experimental work is primarily conducted at Radboud University’s experimental garden and various field sites including the Dutch National Park ‘De Veluwe’, grasslands in the Czech Republic, the Austrian Alps, Norwegian Fjords, the Himalayas, and Brazilian regions. Additionally, she is partially based at the Netherlands Institute of Ecology, leading a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions fellowship project that studies plant-soil-microbiota interactions during agricultural land abandonment and explores the effects of grassland management practices.
