Dr. Dinah Lammiman

Biography

Dinah's experience in storytelling media is extensive, drawing on practical industry experience and connections to facilitate student opportunities in the academic realm. Alongside her work at UCL, Dinah continues to design and deliver immersive storytelling installations for cultural tourist attractions. As a co-founder of PastPorte, she has worked with museums and attractions in the UK and beyond, with clients including the Tower of London, Churches Conservation Trust, National Trust Scotland, and Oxford University. Her current focus is on designing immersive audio educational escape rooms for clients like Sutton Hoo and Martello Tower. Before joining UCL's staff in 2020, Dinah was a producer at BBC's VR Hub, an incubator project exploring the potential of virtual reality as a mainstream storytelling medium. With a career spanning over 19 years at the BBC, she has specialized in long-form documentary production, reporting on UK parliamentary matters and international politics. Dinah has also created numerous radio programs and developed new formats for BBC programming, including spending time in Cbeebies, the BBC's pre-school division, where she focused on parenting strategies. Her main interests lie in exploring creative approaches to factual storytelling using both new and existing technology, facilitating projects that allow students to test the opportunities of experiential spatial storytelling at UCL.
