Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Dingena Schott. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Dingena Schott is a full professor in Machine Cargo Interaction Engineering at TU Delft's Department of Maritime and Transport Technology. She obtained her PhD in 2004 from Delft University of Technology with a focus on the homogenization of bulk materials in mammoth silos. Her research interests revolve around the complex behavior of granular materials and their interactions with equipment in a logistical context. In 2007, she started the GranChaM lab at TU Delft, aiming to characterize, model, calibrate, and validate granular materials for simulation-supported design of cargo handling equipment at an industrial scale. Schott has contributed to the development of calibration frameworks and the modeling of particle-based systems, focusing on terminal designs for particulate materials and even winning an award for a new grab design. In 2019, she was appointed as Director of Studies for the interfaculty MSc program in Transport, Infrastructure and Logistics, where she works to strengthen the cohesion between research and education. Schott has also led a faculty-wide initiative known as FAME (Focus Areas Mechanical Engineering) to reposition research within the Mechanical Engineering faculty and has been an active member of the DEWIS platform, a network within TU Delft dedicated to inspiring and connecting female scientists.
