Professor Dr. Dion Tuckwell

Biography

Dion works in the Department of Design at Monash University as a Lecturer of Communication Design. Before starting his academic career at Monash, Dion worked as a designer in several multidisciplinary studios in Melbourne. His primary interest lies in design practice, particularly in developing theoretical components for the curriculum in his department. Dion maintains a communication design studio serving clients in both the private and public sectors. His studio work and current research output explore how studio practice can intervene in models of design learning. Dion's research interests include collaborative design practice within the context of interdisciplinary research. His doctoral work focuses on an ARC Linkage project that emphasizes design practice-based research and contributes to collaborative efforts to generate knowledge for complex social research.
