Dipesh Chakrabarty holds a BSc (Honors in Physics) from Presidency College, University of Calcutta, a postgraduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (considered equivalent to an MBA), and a PhD in History from Australian National University. He is currently the Lawrence Kimpton Distinguished Service Professor in the Department of History and the Department of South Asian Languages and Civilizations at the University of Chicago.
